Many organisations and people provide the services that clients need. In my opinion, the differentiator is in the way those services are provided and to that extent, Kathy embodies the qualities that I have come to value from PSITL. Kathy is organised but not fussy; diligent but not dogmatic; persistent without being pushy and compliant in a pragmatic way. Whilst she takes ownership and drives issues forward, Kathy is a team player who uses her and her colleagues experience to provide services to her trustee client whilst working closely with those like me representing the sponsoring employer. She works collaboratively with advisers but constructively challenges the scope of services, fees and service standards whenever necessary and makes sure that member needs are always taken into account. I enjoy working with her and trust that she will deliver what is required by the trustee and the members they represent in a manner satisfactory to the sponsoring employer.

When requesting information by email, I have noticed that there is 'out of hours activity' to answer me. I regard this as a stand out 'above and beyond' - impressed.
In any major corporate transaction, time is of the essence. PSGS's pragmatic commercial approach helped us manage the pensions aspects of our group re-structure to ensure a positive outcome for all parties.

In my experience, not all professional trustees are able to cope with tricky or potentially confrontational situations. I find PSGS has massive experience in getting involved, earning the respect of others and resolving such issues. They get stuck in – they are a first rate team.

James Double, an experienced professional pension trustee and Associate of the Pensions Management Institute (PMI), has been named PSIT’s new Head of Trusteeship. He has been with the firm since 2014.

As well as being responsible for developing the firm’s independent trustee services, James will also sit on PSIT’s managing board.

Commenting on his appointment, James said:

“I am excited to take on this new role. In my three years at PSIT, the business has moved from strength to strength and independent trusteeship is growing in importance, not least due to the Pensions Regulator’s focus on the 21st Century Trustee. I look forward to continue working with our great team to develop our professional trustee services to meet the demands and needs of pension schemes into the future.”

Wayne Phelan, PSIT’s Managing Director, commented:

“Since joining us in 2014, James has made a significant contribution to PSIT’s success. We are a fast growing business and, with his experience and skill set, James is ideally suited to driving our continued growth and developing new opportunities for our professional trustee team.”
